Denisha Delancy, 29, Miami woman was killed in a targeted hit while on vacation in Sint Maarten
The promise of a sun-drenched birthday celebration turned into an unimaginable nightmare for a Miami family in March 2026. Denisha Delancy, a vibrant 29-year-old from Liberty City, tragically lost her life while on vacation in Sint Maarten, an innocent casualty of a targeted shooting that has exposed dark undercurrents on the idyllic island.
Delancy had traveled with her sister, Sincaria, and a friend to celebrate her sister’s birthday. Their first night out took them to the White Rabbit club, where they met a man from Trinidad. In a fateful decision, the group accepted a ride home with him instead of their pre-arranged driver. While her sister and friend went to their Airbnb, Denisha remained with the new acquaintance, Quincy Damon Sylvester.

Hours later, their original driver called with chilling news, having heard a man was found dead. The reality was even worse. In the early hours of March 2, on Arlet Peters Road, Sylvester’s SUV was ambushed. A hail of gunfire caused the vehicle to flip, killing both occupants instantly. What police initially considered a traffic accident was quickly reclassified as a double homicide upon discovering bullet-riddled evidence.
Investigators, reviewing surveillance footage, determined Sylvester—a suspected drug lord with alleged ties to Caribbean criminal networks—was the intended target. The footage showed unidentified men tailing him from the club. Denisha Delancy, authorities stress, was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” an innocent bystander caught in a violent plot.
The investigation points to a transnational crime link, with suspects believed to be from Trinidad. While one individual with Trinidadian connections has been arrested, the shooter and others remain at large. The case has cast a pall over the tourist haven, serving as a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly violence can shatter lives, leaving a Florida family to mourn a life full of potential, cut devastatingly short.
